Parsha Play

We learned how a sefer torah, tefillin and mezuzah is written. we practiced writing our own hebrew names in the same font and with a feather and ink!

Soccer Fever

Soccer fever had a good influence in our games- we had a group huddle before games and formed lines after the game to wish each team a job well done! ( this was all initiated by the boys!)

Catching up on all the going ons

It's been a busy few weeks in our class since the Holidays- we've learned lots and have done quite a bit of change in our classroom decor as well. Here's a bit of a catch up from the Holidays

To help us bring what we learn to all parts of our day, and to learn how to appreciate the world around us!

Taste, Touch

We explored our sense of taste by tasting different things without looking and naming which of the four basic tastes it fell under- bitter, salty, sour, or sweet.

We made sensory balls to play with in our class. We filled balloons with different things to create different textured balls. ( Flour, sugar, beans etc)

Bikurim Parade!

We each brought beautiful baskets of fruit for Yad Aharon. We proudly marched with our fruit and gave them to the representatives who were there to collect it. We are sure we've helped so many people have a happier and tastier shavous!

Decorating our Flags

Parshas Bamidbar

While learning about Parshas Bamidar, we discussed how the yidden rested. There were three camps, the inner camp had the mishkan, the second camp Moshe Aaron and the Cohanim and Leviim, and the outer camp the rest of Bnei Yisrael. There were three Shevatim on each side. For each side there was a flag representing the three shvatim. Morah divided us up into the different camps and we each designed our flag with the colors that represented our three shevatim.
Of course this lead us to the discussion of the World Cup and the flags that each country has. This of course led us into the discussion of what a COUNTRY is - so we explored the concepts of PLANETS, CONTINENTS, COUNTRIES, CITIES, STREETS AND ADDRESSES. These are all topics that we hope to master and understand over the next few weeks! The children who know their addresses and their suburbs were so excited to share them with us!

Shavous Projects

We worked very dilligently on our shavous vase canvases to be sure that they would come out perfect! We have been working with the skills and patience of true artists, being careful to color neatly and practice staying in the lines.

Cricket!

Har Sinai

Trying to make Matan Torah a more hands on experience, the boys ( on their own initiative!) built a Har Sinai in the sand box while sitting around it as the yidden who were on the outskirts of the mountain receiving the Torah!

Math Skills

Along with our Math station (for more info and pics check the earlier posts on the blog!), we've begun advancing our math skills in different areas. To help us learn how to draw the numbers correctly we've been using different materials to make it more tactile for us. We've made the shapes of the numbers out of our bodies, we counted out the correct number from different things around the classroom and traced the numbers and drew them on our own in our books.
For sums, Morah put us into pairs. Then, we were given a number. We had to work out two numbers that when added equaled the number Morah said. We then collected the correct amount of items to make a visual math equation!
We made different math equations with beans and beads. We were told a number and had to quickly make a math equation using our beans. We learned a lot, and got to have some fun too!
